We have multiple openings for PostDocs, PhD students, and engineers

PostDoc Digital Fabrication and Tele-manipulation 

Our team is engaged in NCCR dfab with the goal to bring novel robotic systems to construction sites. We want to revolutionize building processes by autonomously operated machines with precise position and force controllability. To this end, we build upon different platforms reaching from small scale and mobile electric manipulators to large scale automated excavators. This allows us to precisely shape the landscape or to assembe structures from all kinds of materials.

Beside autonomous operation, we also investigate augmented teleoperation. Thereby, humans are used to provide (high-level) commands from remote distance while receiving visual and haptic feedback from the tele-operated machine. Targeted applications in the field are construction in inaccessible areas.

Requirements: PhD in relevant field (robotics, legged robots, control, learning, planning, hydraulic, force control, haptics, virtual reality), outstanding track record, good programming skills in C++ and ROS.

PostDoc Legged Robotics and Alternative Locomotion Concepts

For our work with ANYmal as well as its successor, we are searching for experience researches in the field of locomotion control, motion planning/learning, state estimation, and/or navigation. You can work with one of the most advanced quadrupedal robots worldwide, a fully autonomous and precisely force controllable machine that is made for outdoor operation. You will be engaged in different research projects such as the Rescue Grand Challenge of NCCR robotics.

Requirements: PhD in relevant field (legged robots, control, learning, planning), outstanding track record, good programming skills in C++ and ROS

Software Engineers (multiple positions)

We are searching for support (part time or full time) of our engineering team of ANYmal to develop and integrate highlevel and low-level software. Interested students or graduates with experience in C++/ROS or low-level micro controller programming can send their application to .

 

Electronic Engineer

We are searching for an electronic engineer for the development and commissioning of complex circuits and software to be used in our robots. You will support researchers and students, procure and administrate lab equipment, and serve as IT coordinator. Interested people ideally have a completed EE study and ideally some years of experience. We expect broad and solid knowledge in circuit design and the development of prototypes.
